Welcome to Thirty at Thirty!

We first did this in 2011, when we decided we would each accomplish 25 things in our 25th year. Now that we’re approaching 30–we're both officially 29!–we’ve decided to try it again.

When we sat down in early December to plan our goals for our last year as 20-somethings, we also took inventory of everything that had happened since 2011. We accomplished a lot that year. As we tried to make a list of 30 things we could do now, before we turned 30, we realized we weren’t sure what was left to do. Since 2011, we’d both traveled and changed jobs. We’d loved. We’d lost. She got married. I moved to a new state. All told, it was a little overwhelming. And, on top of that, how could we top our successes and triumphs of our 25th year–the year we took on the world?

It wasn’t easy, but two cups of tea later, we drafted a list. Our first draft was jumbled and disorganized. We’d crossed a lot of things out and we’d tweaked each item again and again until they were nearly undecipherable on the page. We changed some of the rules–instead of each accomplishing 30 things, we would hit 30 collectively. Some goals we would share. Some goals we’d have to go alone. Some goals would be easy. Others, not so much. But we’d do it. We’re doing it.

One year.

Two girls.

Thirty goals.

Holy crap.
